Alyse Killeen, Managing Partner of StillMark Co. and StillMark Capital, is a venture capitalist with seed stage to pre-IPO investment experience in infrastructure, enterprise, and consumer technologies, and one of the very first traditional venture investors to participate as an investor and advisor in the blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystems as early as 2013. Alyse was further one of the initial few venture capitalists to delve into token sales and token incentivized software-based networks in 2013, and an Advisory Board Member and Chairperson to one of the very first companies ever to host such a token distribution. Prior to StillMark, Alyse was an investor with two of Los Angeles’ largest and most esteemed venture capital firms.
In 2015, UN Foundation named her a Top 70 Bay Area Digital Leader, and in 2016, Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), a university under the ambit of Singapore’s Ministry of Education, appointed Alyse a Fintech Fellow. In 2017, International Business Times (IBT) recognized Alyse’s contribution to the development of the blockchain ecosystem by including her in the 4th position of IBT’s “VCs Powering the Blockchain Boom” List, following Tim Draper, Mark Cuban, and Naval Ravikant of AngelList. Now in 2018, Alyse is featured in the forthcoming, preeminent documentary on Bitcoin, BIT X BIT: In Bitcoin We Trust.
Alyse has presented internationally for groups including the International Monetary Fund (IMF), TechCrunch Disrupt China, Channel NewsAsia, Singapore Management University, and USA Today, and has been featured in publications including Forbes, Business Insider, and Bloomberg. In 2015, Alyse authored a book chapter in the award-winning Handbook of Digital Currency titled “The Confluence of Bitcoin and the Global Sharing Economy”, and in 2017 contributed to the next book in the series, Handbook of Blockchain, Digital Finance, and Inclusion (2017), co-authoring “Global Financial Institutions 2.0” with Dr. R. Chan of the World Bank.
To give back to the startup community, Alyse volunteers time as a Mentor at Plug and Play Tech Accelerator and Alchemist Accelerator in Silicon Valley, and as a member of New York Fashion Tech Lab’s Expert Network, a nonprofit program for top-tier women-led technology companies. In support of new community and talent infrastructure development, Alyse founded City Fellows Consortium in 2015 and Women in Venture in 2013.
Today at StillMark, Alyse Killeen’s investment practice focuses on global innovation in the finance, healthcare, and marketplace arenas, especially where these fields intersect with advancements in data science and distributed network technologies, or are progressed by blockchain protocols, infrastructure, middleware, or second layer solutions. She continues to advise investment groups and executives in enterprise and consumer technologies and applications broadly, and holds Advisory Board seats at several cutting-edge startups and pioneering investment funds, and a Board of Directors role at BitGive, Bitcoin’s first 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
